Bioinformatics
Bioinformatics is a multidisciplinary science that analyses, understands and creates the model of life as an evolving information processing phenomenon for maximizing natural energy utilization. It uses the principles and models of mathematics, medical and pharmaceutical concepts, computer programmes and tools for understanding and analyzing biological processes, human diseases and indentifying new molecular targets for drug discovery.
The Bioinformatics department was incepted in IIIT-A as, two years full time regular M.Tech specialization programme in the year 2002. Since then the department is striving regularly to meet the latest advancement in Bioinformatics era.
Mission And Objective
To produce Techno masters through due understanding of multi-disciplines including computational, biological, medical and chemistry domains. To lead research in leading technologies to serve mankind in general.
Vision
To conquer the limits of nature by revealing inherent properties of versatile materials like protein, DNA, RNA and paving path to the awaiting bioinformatics breakthrough.
To develop and implement algorithms and tools to, use, manage and study various biological information.
To provide leadership by maintaining standards in practise, research, teaching, and commercial application in bioinformatics.
To device a framework to foster and facilitate overall advancements in bioinformatics.

IIIT-A, According to me, can be appraised as "The Institute that never sleeps". It enriches students with knowledge regarding diverse fields not only on the theoretical aspects but also on improving practical ability of the students, such that they are eligible to meet the industry as well as research standards of the field.
IIIT not only provided me knowledge to excel in Bioinformatics but also shaped my character to adapt with ever changing world. My batch mates from all over India with different culture and discipline shared their views and made the batch as a peer group. IIIT left a indelible foot print on my life, thus dividing it into two parts, BI (Before IIIT) and AI (After IIIT). Thank you IIIT. Proud to be an IIITian.

It had been a wonderful experience of 2 years at IIIT-A. Scholarly insight, able guidance and constant motivation form our faculty members helped me to explore a lot in computational and biological studies.
